Oven Mate

Oven Mate Gel Oven Cleaner is definitely my 'New Best Friend'.
There's no doubt that for most of us, cleaning the oven and grill pan is the worst chore in the kitchen and most oven cleaners don't measure up to the task and often have a really acrid smell and choking vapour.  Not Oven Mate, this is definitely the exception.

This product is recommended by Neff, which speaks for itself!

Oven Mate Gel removes stubborn baked on grease and oil.  Simply apply Oven Mate with the supplied brush.  Oven Mate Gel saves hours of hard work - no scrubbing.  Oven Mate rinses off easily.  This is a powerful, biodegradable oven cleaner that leaves your oven looking like new, it even removes the most stubborn baked on fat and oil.

No Need for Elbow Grease - it's a doddle!

The best part of all is that Oven Mate has no acrid smell and you don't need to scrub.

FREE: Inside the box containing your chunky 500ml bottle of Oven Mate is a brush to apply the product plus a pair of protective gloves.

Visit my website and get your Oven Mate today!

Soap Nuts

These amazing little shells of the soap nut tree contain soap or saponin which we can use to clean our clothes with. They are economical, chemical free and protect your clothes from bacteria and fungus and whats more when you have finished washing your clothes with them you just pop them in your compost bin.

So how do you use them?

Pop a few shells in a wash bag or sock and then put them in the drum of your washing machine with your clothes and wash as normal. When the soap nuts come into contact with water they release saponin and this acts like a detergent to aid the water in freeing dirt, grime and oils from our clothes.

They are highly recommended for people who have skin allergies or sensitive skin as they are 100% natural and free of chemicals. Some people have seen their eczema and psoriasis clear up as a result of using soap nuts.

To make Liquid Soap

Simmer about half a dozen soap nuts for five minutes. The amount of water you use doesn’t really matter. Simply use enough water to cover the shells. If you use nut shells that haven’t been used before you will end up with a fairly “strong” solution. You can dilute the liquid accordingly afterwards. Cool and strain. Alternatively, pour boiling water over shells and leave to cool. Procedure can be repeated several times before shells are disposed of on compost heap.

Liquid Soap can be used for -

Washing delicate items by hand and for washing hands.
Washing dishes (particularly good for glassware).
Use in place of conventional screen wash in your car! (Dilute with cold water 1:4).
Add a few drops of essential oil for an effective spray-on general surface cleaner.
Add a little white vinegar for a super-effective window/glass cleaner.
Add to a spray bottle and attack greenfly and aphids!
They are excellent for hand washing clothes.

I would suggest that you swish half a dozen soap nuts round in some warm water for a while, then remove them and use the soapy water that's left.

This prevents any bits of nuts getting in the clothes. If you decide to use them in a washing machine, always keep the nuts in a sock or something similar.

The saponin in the nuts is really good stuff and it can be used in a spray/ bottle for general cleaning purposes too.

Its especially good for coloured fabrics as the colours stay true and bright.

Hope you like them - I sell quite a few from my site.

Paraben and SLS Free Products

The new Wikaniko Luxury Skin Care range has been made from the best natural products and is totally free of colourings, parabens and SLS.

What does this mean for you?
What are parabens?
What is SLS?
Why should we aim to buy products that are free from these ingredients?

What does this mean for you?
This means that you have access to a range of products that are completely safe to use and free from any nasties. Amazingly these products are also competitively priced so are available to the majority of people. Check out the range now to see what is available.

What are parabens?

Parabens are a group of widely used preservatives added to food and cosmetics, and an extremely common ingredient in underarm deodorants, anti-perspirants, cosmetics, face cream, shampoo and toothpaste. An estimated 90% of cosmetic products contain parabens. Parabens are included in many consumer items, but high levels of exposure to parabens can result from repeated use of products that contain them, especially deodorants and anti-perspirants. These products have been linked to breast cancer because they are applied close to the breast, where they could potentially adhere to DNA and encourage the development of damaged cells.

What is SLS?

SLS or Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and SLES or Sodium Laureth Sulphate are chemical agents that are used as a degreaser for car engines, and are also active ingredients in car washes. They cause the products in which they are used to 'foam up' and lather, and dissolves grease and oil. They are also used in toothpaste, shampoo, bubble baths, soaps, and many detergents.

The problem with SLS and SLES is they can cause scalp and skin irritations, dried out skin, irritated eyes, swelling of the face, hands and arms and can dry out and damage hair follicles. The reason SLS is placed in these products is that it is cheap and effective at doing what it is supposed to do and people don't pay enough attention to what goes into their hair and onto their faces.

SLS and SLES may not be a problem in small doses, however we are exposed to these chemicals many times a day. This exposure begins when we brush our teeth and use mouthwash, then when we shower in the form of shower gels, soaps, shampoos, then face creams and body lotions. Even the clothes we wear contain these chemicals so we are keeping them close to our skin all day.

Why should we aim to buy products that are free from these ingredients?

Provided it is clinically proven that parabens pose a threat to our health then why are they still used by skin care companies? The answer is simple – being cheap preservatives, these substances lengthen the shelf life of products, longer shelf life leads to higher possibility of the products being purchased thus leading to higher sales for the company! Are you prepared to be consuming a product that studies have suggested cause cancer? Or would you prefer to use products that you know are paraben free and therefore safer to use and healthier? The choice is yours. For a wide range of luxury products that are paraben and SLS free then visit my shop

Organic Vegetable Gardening

Are you thinking of creating your own organic vegetable garden and growing your own vegetables?  Don't know where to start?

The best thing for me about organic vegetable gardening is not the money I save on my monthly shopping bill but the satisfaction I get when I can harvest my own vegetables and enjoy the delicious flavours they bring.

When we moved to Northumberland 6 years ago we had never contemplated having a vegetable garden however, the house we bought had an area already set aside for growing your own fruit and veg.  Since then we have expanded the area and now grow a variety of fruit and vegetables which my young boys love helping harvest.

So why grow an organic vegetable garden?  It's BETTER.  Better for the vegetables and fruit you are growing and better for the soil.  More importantly it's better for YOU.

If you can grow your fruit and vegetables in natural ways they may not look as perfect to the eye as shop bought vegetables but they will have a lot more flavour.  There will be no chemical or poison residues left on them, you will know that they are 100% safe for you and your family to eat.  In addition to this there are no air miles/transportation of the vegetables and you can pick them immediately for consumption.

To achieve your organic garden you need to plan ahead.  Where is your vegetable garden going to do, what are you going to dig into the soil?, what vegetables, fruit and herbs are you going to grow? and what preventative and proactive measures are you going to take?

The short days of winter are the time to start thinking about what you want to grow this year in your veg garden.  For inspiration and ideas why not become a Wikaniko Allotment Gardener and sign up to receive FREE weekly organic gardening tips.

For inspiration on seeds and vegetables to grow then visit my Shop and check out the wide range of seeds available for purchase at competetive prices.

Happy vegetable gardening

Wikaniko Luxury Skincare Range

I am delighted to announce the launch of the Wikaniko luxury skin care range!

These superb skin care products have taken many months of trials, testing, reworking and improving, in order to bring you what they consider are the best natural products that you can get – totally free of colourings, parabens, SLS, etc etc.

Wikaniko's quest to make the best products follows the withdrawal of the Faith moisturiser which many people liked. They asked the chemist (and his partner who is a leading toxicologist) who developed our luxury shampoo range to produce something far better than the Faith moisturiser – better than Green People products, better than Liz Earle, better than No7 – better than anyone in fact.  We believe that he has done it in style, and then some.

Wikaniko now has its own Signature Blend!

You only have to look at the range of totally natural ingredients in these products to appreciate just how good they really are. For example, they have used Sea Buckthorn Oil, Jojoba Oil, Red Mandarin Oil, Jasmine Absolute, Frankincense Oil, Organic Coconut, Magnolia, Neroli, Seaweed Extract, etc. You are going to love these products.  Take a few minutes to visit my website http://www.northumberlandecoproducts.co.uk and read the descriptions for details of ingredients in the individual products.

Rest assured that you simply can’t get these products anywhere else. They are totally unique to Wikaniko, and only available through Independant Wikaniko Distributors  The people who have trialled these fabulous products are now hooked on our wonderful creams and lotions, with many stating that they are better than anything else they have tried, and at a far more reasonable price….

The big news is that they are also available as Own Brand products!  For more information on retailing your own range of these products then visit my website here http://www.wikaniko.com/distributor/ownbrand.php or e-mail me for more details.

Work from home businesses

Easy money or not?

80% of people who join a network marketing business to make money actually fail to do so.  Why?  Want to know the secret behind the 20% of people who do make a living from their business?

Here's the answer: The only place where 'success' comes before 'work' is in the dictionary.  That's where 80% of people fall down, they don't put the effort in and work at it consistently.

It will take effort to get where you want to go.  You may be used to being paid an hourly wage in a job whether you actually put the effort in for your boss, you may occasionally phone in sick just because you didn't feel like going to work.  If you have a work from home business, if you don't do something, you don't get paid!!

Alternatively - if you leave a job, you don't get paid any more.  However, in your work form home business if you work consistently, you will soon find that you will build an income that you just can't stop coming in, whether or not you get up in the morning and decide to work.

5 years from now you could be sitting with your feet up, never having to work again for the rest of your life because you put in consistent effort over the last 5 years.  20% of the people that run a work form home business will experience this, whereas 80% will wonder why it hasn't happened for them.

Why not read Business Opportunity Watch websites independent review of Wikaniko.  They give Wikaniko 9 out of 10!!

Why Should I Recycle?

If you throw something away it is no longer useful, it ends up in landfill, incinerated, or in some other way contaminating the environment.  If you recycle something, it can be recovered and become material for a new product, someone else may find your unwanted goods useful.

How do I start recycling at home?

Start by doing what's easy and simple.  You don't have to become an expert overnight.  The first step is to start realising there is 'no such place as away' so when you 'throw something awa'y it just goes some place else, for someone else to deal with or most likely becomes a contaminent in the environment.

Start by recycling the products that you can put into your recycling bin - paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, tin cans.  Take your bottles to your nearest recycling centre.  Unwanted toys, furniture, books, clothes can be taken to a recycling centre or post them on Wicycle a website where you can recycle items totally free of cost, thereby giving everyone a fabulous alternative to high priced auction sites such as ebay.

Check out my eco store http://www.northumberlandecoproducts.co.uk/ and go green by finding out more information on recycling and ways you can help the environment.

Make 2012 a year to remember and Let's Recycle as much of our household waste as we can and any unwanted gifts and presents can be placed on Wicycle-It to go to a wanted home.

Let's Recycle!

Welcome to Northumberland Eco Products

Welcome to my Wikaniko blog.  I am a Qualified Distributor for Wikaniko and a member of the Wikaniko Warriors.  I came across the Wikaniko eco business opportunity less than a year ago and was keen to do something that would enable me to help create a greener future for my children.  Since having started there have already been so many opportunities presented to me.  I have learnt so much and am learning more and more by the day.  A year ago I didn't know what a blog was and now here I am writing my own.

This opportunity has enabled me to work the hours I want and fit them in around looking after my three young boys.  I decide when I work, how long I work for and I do it with the knowledge that I'm helping raise awareness about the environment and how we can help preserve it for a greener future.

Wikaniko is a unique opportunity that not only enables us to make a difference but can be done whilst creating an income for ourselves.  When you join you are offered a full training programme online absolutely free.  You also receive a starter kit which has a handful of both the home shopping catalogue and the health and beauty catalogue, a CD with various marketing articles on and your own distributor badge.  One of the things I like most about Wikaniko is the distributor's forum.  This is a place where all distributors can come and bounce ideas off each other, share their success stories or help other distributors with their path to success.  A brilliant place to go for support and advice and everyone is more than willing to help each other, there is no competition or complaints about other distributors.

I am starting 2011 with the hope that by 2012 I will have done as much as possible to promote my business and make a positive impact on the environment.
